Go_A is a band making a modern reinterpretation of the Ukrainian folklore packaged in the elec-tronic sound. The name of the band consists of ‘Go’ as ‘movement’ and ‘A’ as an ancient Greek letter ‘alpha’, which refers to going back to one’s cultural roots. The story of the band started in 2012 when the sound producer Taras Shevchenko met the ethno singer Kateryna Pavlenko. After recording several songs, they realized that the Ukrainian folkloreand electronic music are a perfect match, combining energy and emotions into an engaging mix.
In 2016, Go_A won the “The Best Track in Ukraine” contest. The song “Vesnianka” was immediately placed in radio rotation and topped the “10Dance” chart for 6 weeks. Consequently, the bandwas nominated for the title “KissFM Discovery of the Year”. In November 2016, the band presented their first album #Ідиназвук (#FollowTheSound). In spring 2019, “Vesnianka” entered Top 10 іTunes Dance chart in Slovakia.
In early 2020 Go_A won the Ukrainian national selection for Eurovision Song contest with the highest possible score from both the jury and televoting. After Eurovision 2020 had been canceled, Go_A was selected to be the Ukrainian entry for Eurovision 2021.
In late 2020 Go_A was nominated for Ukrainian music awards “Yuna” as a Discovery of the year. In May 2021 Go_A participated in Eurovision Song Contest with the song "SHUM" that was fully in Ukrainian. They took the 5th place according to the overall results and the 2nd place according to the televoting. SHUM became a worldwide trend in Spotify hitting the top of most European charts, became #2 in Spotify VIral USA & #1 in Spotify Viral Worldwide. SHUM also became the 1st Ukrainian song ever to hit the Billboard Top 200 chart.
