Forest Swords, also known as Matthew Barnes, is an electronic producer and artist from Liverpool who has made a name for himself creating innovative electronic worlds. On the occasion of his new album "Bolted", Barnes will visit Poland with two concerts. On March 19, the artist will perform at Tama in Poznań, and on March 20 at the Niebo club in Warsaw.
Matthew Barnes rose to fame with his second album Compassion (Ninja Tune), as well as remixes for Björk and Neneh Cherry. However, his work is not limited only to creating his own albums - he also composes music for computer games, films and artistic projects, which resulted in original soundtracks, among others. for the Sundance award-winning documentary "Ghosts of Sugar Land".
The album "Bolted" was recorded in a factory space in the hometown of Liverpool. In eleven songs, Barnes delves into his unique sounds, combining melancholy and euphoria, monochrome and color, past and future.
The album announcement was accompanied by the single "The Low", a dark journey through trip-hop with metallic accents. The song, originally intended for Yoko Ono, combines elements from the beginning and end of the album's creative process. "The Low" and the earlier single "Butterfly Effect", with the voice of the legendary Neneh Cherry sampled, move the musical world of Forest Swords into darker areas.
Bolted is an album that is markedly different from Barnes' previous work, 2017's Compassion. This time, the artist presents a more condensed, tense, and urgent world. From the industrial pulse of "Munitions", through the nostalgic "End", to the psychedelic ending of "Line Gone Cold", the album is a bold, lonely, dark and beautiful declaration of Forest Swords as one of the most unique voices in electronic music.
